Meeting Minutes – May 18 2022

Healing Forrest – want our endorsement, what can we do? Laurie will away and talk to Sarah James.

Traffic Plans – Kim – The bike lane along Arbutus is more chaotic, traffic is being routed Maple, Cypress.
Options:

  • Send the COV pictures and stats of what is happening (rolling stops, cars going wrong direction, bikers and cars confused at Arbutus and Creelman)
  • Approach Slow streets to enforce less Zigg-Zags through Kits Point and designate it as a Slow Street
    • Kim has maps – artery through Chestnut and Arbutus, how do people get in and out and to limit
      the desirability of people coming in by vehicle traffic
    • Remove free parking, move parking on the north end of Arbutus
  • Can we as the KPRA approach the city to do something to calm the streets?
  • Hire a Traffic Consultant – Laurie to provide info to Kim, cost out, budget and potentially do fundraising, Adam can ask the Hub People, then regroup to understand process and go forward plan.

Senawk – Scott – Backgrounder has been prepared, well researched. With the recent “new” that the services
agreement will be signed on May 25 th changes our strategy on the go forward.

  • Renderings that show scale – Brain Palmquist – Can we ask them to do some renderings on the
    development – Adam/Scott
  • Story is imminent – bad urban planning, will negatively impact city, city is claiming no jurisdiction
    when they have jurisdiction
  • KPRA will endorse – Laurie needs copy of talking points Mailchimp and what will get posted to the
    website
  • Ask – in accordance with present Vancouver planning and zoning

– 1450 Chestnut (apts at Cornwall & Chestnut) – very cooperative.
– Kirsch apts on Maple – rental mgr. said she would put on their internal FB page – hope she does.
– Some businesses letting me put up flyers in windows
– Mailchimp is going out May. 18 th , 2022
